Class Notes from Lesson 1-14 Constitutional

Lesson 1-14: Nerve Function Part 2

Mylan is insulation for the nerves. Severed nerves may be reconnected if the mylan lines up and heals. St. John's Wort may affect the healing of the mylan sheath.

Synaptic transmission. Neurons are nerve cells. At the end of one neuron and the beginning of the next nerve there is a space called a synapse. Neuro transmitters bring the signal from one nerve to the next and are found in pre-synaptic neurons. Bubbles/vesicles of neurotransmitters are made in the pre synapse. Voltage regulated calcium channels causes neurotransmitters to be released - exocytosis. They cross the synapse. Proteins called receptor sites receive the neurotransmitters. This either excites or suppresses the nerve. Excitation means sodium floods in.... signal sent to hand to swat a fly... or whatever.... impulse travels to cause movement/response. Other impulses are signals that relax - like expanding the balder. Aconite reduces impulses to reduce pain. by deadening the nerve. Shingles virus does the opposite - make the nerves more sensitive.

Interesting rant on anti-seizure medication.... scary stuff!
