Materia Medica Lesson 3-3: Ammi Visnaga, treating asthma

Anti-spasmodic. Can be used to stop asthma attacks. Also slows pulse. The African version is the one that works, but the effect lessens with frequent use. Good for occasional emergency.

MM's childhood asthma (the kind that is really bad and may cause fainting) formula: 2-3 capsules a day of dried, ground horehound, picked fresh just before or after flowering... not bought. Passion flower, again, picked and dried , taken as tea. Echinacea tincture.

AMMI VISNAGA (Khella, Bishops's Weed) SEEDS. Tincture [1:5, 60% alcohol], 60-120 drops to 4X a day. Not advisable for extended use. Whole seed CVS uses are rather inferior to the refined constituents, but quite adequate for smooth-muscle relaxation. STATUS : W/C

From  SPECIFIC INDICATIONS FOR HERBS IN GENERAL USE Third edition Michael Moore:

AMMI VISNAGA General bronchodilator for long-term use in asthma; asthma with sleep apnea.
