Materia Medica Lesson 6-11: Dioscorea, progesterone creams pros and cons

 Wild Yam contains progesterone. Using it is hormone replacement that is more effective than taking it orally.

DIOSCOREA VILLOSA (Wild Yam) ROOT. Tincture [Fresh ROOT, 1:2, Dry Root, 1:5, 60% alcohol] 30-100 drops, to 4X a day. Fluidextract [1:1, 55% alcohol] 10-25 drops. Cold Infusion, 2-4 ounces to 4X a day. Slice thin when fresh to use when dry. STATUS : W/LA

Cholangitis, general antispasmodic. Cholecystalgia, general antispasmodic. Lithiasis with clonic spasms. Ureteralgia. Pain from renal and bladder colic. Chronic pyelitis, with colic. Colic, in general. Diarrhea, for tenesmus. Chronic diarrhea with hyperactive cholinergic functions. Nausea, general antispasmodic. Vomiting, in general. Dysmenorrhea, in general. Mittelschmerz, in general. Uterus, inflammation, with cramps. Miscarriage, impending, with cramps as main symptom. Morning sickness. Colic in infants, general intestinal antispasmodic.
