Materia Medica Lesson 8-7: Ligusticum, Osha and friends

 Osha can be used with any respiratory infection. Osha promotes urination, sweating and expectoration. Good combined with Echinacea. Good for dry cough with fever and no sweating. Osha is anti-viral. Topical disinfectant. Powdered root is styptic- stops bleeding. Don't use too much during pregnancy.

LIGUSTICUM PORTERI (Osha, Chuchupate, Mountain Lovage) ROOT. Tincture [Fresh Root, 1:2, Dry Root, 1:5, 70% alcohol], 20-60 drops up to 5X a day. Cold Infusion, 2-6 ounces, as needed. STATUS : W/LA

LIGUSTICUM PORTERI (OSHA) 

Onset of head cold, dry with irritative cough. Initial stages of acute pharyngitis. Subacute pharyngitis, slow to heal. Acute early stage tonsillitis. Bronchorrhea. Acute cough, initial stages. Acute influenza with coughing, dyspnea. Acute bronchial pneumonia with dyspnea. Fever, dry, hot, interrupted diaphoresis. Leukocytosis (with Echinacea). 

LIGUSTRUM LUCIDUM 

Chronic aphthous stomatitis with pale mucosa, relaxed tissue. Thrush (externally).
