Materia Medica Lesson 9-5: Monarda, Bee Balm, Wild Oregano

 Oh good, the Bee Balm that grows in my yard is one MM sites as "medicinal".... I knew it was. Good for sore throat. The lemony/tea smelling ones are mild diaphoretics, but not strongly medicinal. The more medicinal smelling ones are good as topical disinfectant. Good for infected scratches and minor cuts. Good first aid. Good diaphoretic. Helps with chest colds - reduces virus and bacteria in lungs, and dilates bronchi. Use as tea or tincture, can be inhaled or used as mouth wash.

MONARDA (Bee Balm, Oswego Tea, Wild Bergamot, Wild Oregano) FLOWERING HERB. Standard Infusion, 1-4 ounces, to 3X a day or as gargle. STATUS : W/C

Diarrhea from dietary indiscretions. 

MONARDA HONEY Fresh Monarda Flowers stuffed tightly into a mason jar, Honey added, and topped off several times (until bubbles work completely out and flowers are saturated and covered), kept around for a month or two, pressed out.
