Reserpine made from plant was used for extreme high blood pressure. for short term use, usually associated with traumatic event. Also good for some cardiac issues. Gandhi chewed on the root daily to quiet the heart, stay centered. Toxic in large doses. Useful short term for schizophrenia. Long term and large doses causes, exhaustion, fainting episodes and eventually death - basically extreme low blood pressure.
