Class Notes from Lesson 5-5 Constitutional

Lesson 5-5: The Kidneys Part 3

Presumably this is kidney deficiency continued. His first discernable words are "this results in diminished sodium." Then, he mentions low blood pressure. Flushing and high volume of urine are main signs of deficiency.

No need to try to correct kidney deficiency usually, unless there is frequent/chronic low blood pressure.

Herbs for kidney deficiency: Licorice is the most important and most frequently used. Licorice mimics aldosterone. Diminishes excess urine production and increases specific gravity. Dong quai, Panax (ginseng) - tonics, horsetail and one I couldn't catch - structural, Kidney function deteriorates with age. Vaccinium (blueberry, huckleberry, etc) good for structural deficiency.

Poor connective tissue can be hereditary and can lead t problems with kidney, liver and lungs. Signs are not healing well, brittle nails, scaring of skin. Poor healing.

Lower back pain from drinking cheap red wine or old coffee can be a sign of kidney inflammation/kidney deficiency. Omega 3 fatty acids may help.

Panax good for skin, liver and kidney deficiency combo.

Kidney excess symptoms are moderate high blood pressure, standing too quickly causes roaring in ears and dizziness, craving fats, dark urine (not hepatitis or taking lots of B vit).

Adrenal cortical stress - thick blood, high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol and triglycerides, anti-diuretics hormone causes water retention, sticky blood.

Discussion on high blood pressure and why BP meds usually do more harm than good.

KIDNEY DEFICIENCY. Angelica sinensis (Dong Quai), Capsella, Equisetum, Glycyrrhiza, Oplopanax, Panax (all), Vaccinium

KIDNEY EXCESS. METABOLIC COOLER: Asclepias (all), Harpagophytum, Iris, Tribulus, Vinca.
