Materia Medica Lesson 2-12: Alnus, Antifungals

Alder - Catkins are antifungal. Good to know - plenty of alder grows around here... and I'm allergic to tea tree. Tincture good for athletes food, jock itch, ring worm, etc. Tea or poultice of the catkins is good for cradle cap.

Alnus - Alder ALNUS SERRULATA (Tag Alder) BARK, fresh or recent only. Strong Decoction, 1/2 to 2 tablespoons. Weak Decoction for external use. CATKINS and POLLEN as tea, tincture or poultice STATUS : W/LA

From  SPECIFIC INDICATIONS FOR HERBS IN GENERAL USE Third edition Michael Moore:

ALNUS INCANA Chronic gastritis with poor HCl, extended transit time. Eczema, pustular with boil cycles. Poison ivy/oak (topically).
