Materia Medica Lesson 4-1: Apium, Celery

 Celery root is diuretic. Seeds infused for tea is better diuretic. Reduces surplus fluid due to sodium or heat. Reliable low level antimicrobial. Not appropriate during pregnancy. Seed oil could be moderately stimulating to uterine secretions. Is emmenagogue. Mildly sedative to agitated brains - anti-anxiety... nerve tonic. Juice of stalks is major source of potassium and trace minerals (organic only - commercial creates toxic nitrates). Good tonic for nervous tension.

APIUM (Celery) SEED. Simple Infusion, 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of seeds in cup of hot water. ROOT. Standard Decoction, ad lib STALKS, ORGANIC ONLY. 1 lb juiced a day when needed. STATUS : C
