Materia Medica Lesson 10-4: Scutelleria, Skullcap

Skullcap is nerve sedative. Good for all nerve irritation and nerve pain. Skullcap is not technically a sedative, but it baffles nerve pain so you can relax or sleep. Plains Skullcap increases blood supply to surface of the skin and are mildly heating. Galericulata is the strongest. But, only fresh or vary recently dried Skullcap has any effect. Best combined with a muscle relaxant like pedicularis or cordydalis. Combined with peony or lobelia or good for menstrual pain and cramps, also good for intestinal cramps. Lobelia combo good for general spasms. Combine with CA or Prickly Poppy for strains, sprains and deep bruises. Good for hysteria or really burned out stress, combined with verbena.

Take 1-3 teaspoons in HOT water for Killer Kramps, particularly of it is a problem that only happens every few months, or occurs only the first night of menstruation.
