This is a heating herb. Good for rheumatoid arthritis. Really cool western plant.... maybe worth a trip! You have to boil the wood with bark, and skim the water to get the rosin. Good for initial treatment of tonsillitis or sore throat that doesn't start as a head cold - use as gargle. Can be used to help with early MS symptoms... may actually slow MS progression! In Mexico they make tea out of the sticks for arthritis.
GUAIACUM OFFICINALE (Lignum Vitae, Guaiac Wood) BARK OR WOOD. Tincture [1:5, 95% alcohol] 5-15 drops in water, frequently. As a gargle, the same as above. STATUS : W/LA

GUAIACUM Initial stages of acute pharyngitis. Subacute pharyngitis, slow to heal. Acute pharyngitis, returning after almost healing. Chronic pharyngitis with chronic joint pain, mild auto-immunity symptoms. Strep throat. Acute early stage tonsillitis (also as a gargle). Subacute moist cough, stubborn, reoccurring. Multiple sclerosis, early stages or the beginning of remissions. Arthritis, diuretic. Chronic rheumatic pains with cold hands, feet, poor circulation, debility.
