Class Notes from Lesson 4-5 Constitutional

 Lesson 4-5: The Liver

Skip the first 12 minutes or so.... chatter and technical issues.

Liver has two sperate blood sources - hepatic artery and portal vein. Portal blood comes from spleen, pancreas, stomach and intestines. Liver cleans blood. Liver makes albumen. Vit A and K stored in liver. Liver also stores glucose as glycogen.

Discussion on liver's role in blood sugar. My uncle had genetic fatty liver... undiagnosed until too late. First sign was diabetes. Same doctors recommended tylenol and dozens of prescriptions for various things.... then blamed his liver damage on alcohol... then starved him to death by putting a large framed, 6'5" Scotsman on a low/no protein diet designed for a small framed, "average" person. Never recommended exercise or a natural diet... certainly not herbs. Typical American modern medicine... keep everyone pumped full of prescriptions until their livers wear out from those prescriptions, then bring in the Nutritionist who is still brainwashed by the "science" of Ancel Keys, all of which was fraudulent and has been proven harmful... but is still taught in out med schools.

Discussion on Saint John's Wort. It is as effective as Prozac. Drug companies sponsored research against it. Also good for nerve regeneration, wound healing and anti-viral. He mentions kava. I LOVE kava... hope he gets more into that later. Apparently the drug companies also sponsored research against kava. I have noticed it isn't as easy to find in stores anymore... used to be able to get a whole bottle of ground kava root, in capsules at the dollar store for $1... and I was remarkably mellow. Nick Charles (The Thin Man) level mellow!

Liver breaks down steroid hormones. Organizes and synthesizes cholesterol. Cell membranes are predominately cholesterol. Cholesterol necessary for oxygen use. Liver controls fat storage.

Most common waste product of bile is bilirubin, waste from hemoglobin. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bilirubin Liver processes bilirubin. Jaundice can be sign of poor liver function.

Dandelion stimulates liver bile without liver irritation.

Alcohol is a solvent that disrupts enzyme activity. Solvents on skin, inhaled do the same. Huffing solvents is really damaging.

Puffy gums is sign of enlarged liver. Enlarged liver is lots of connective tissue, lots of scar tissue. Liver tissue regenerates when it gets "time off".

He makes the Hank Williams mistake again.... again, Hank did not die of liver failure. His heart stopped due to a mix of alcohol, pain killers and chloral hydrate.

Eating good food with plenty of glutamine helps protect from alcohol damage. Lots of protein and good veggies. "A variety of liver damaging things can be supported by a good diet... that means someone in the kitchen cooking."

Liver bile should go to gall bladder.

Don't eat under stress! More "adrenaline junkie" weird stuff talk.... I love to harvest food, prep food, cook food, eat food and eat with other people. If you eat with people you don't like, talk about non-controversial subjects or, focus on the food. Good food needs more attention! Life is too short to subsist on bad or bland food... take an extra few minutes to have good food... do it for your liver!

Gallbladder bile squirts into common duct. Pancreatic alkali mixes with it. Most everyone has gall stones, but they are no problem.

Discussion on liver flush... not good.

Hospital infection rate is very important info.

Oily stool sign of very big problem.

Butter fat far more easily digested and better for you than vegetable oils, even olive or avocado.

Gallbladder removal usually unnecessary. NEVER skip breakfast! Stay hydrated to avoid kidney stones.
