Lesson 6-2: Estrus Cycle, Oxytocin and Gossypium
Pituitary makes somatotropin, growth hormone. Somatotropin favors protein metabolism and causes craving for protein. Supports liver. Controlled by hypothalamus. Somatotropin is higher with sense of well being, decreases with failure and loss. Admission or visiting a hospital lowers somatotropin. Lower somatotropin reduces body's ability to repair and regenerate. Natural disasters do as well - any crisis. Progesterone cycle triggers somatotropin. Insulin surges just before period. Cortisol higher during estrogen phase. More blood volume during progesterone phase, as progesterone phase is fading, due to aldosterone. So, running out of progesterone early due to stress, etc causes fluid retention and big spike in insulin. Presence of estrogen and progesterone at the same time causes prolactin secretion - causes achiness and sense of dis-ease. PMS can stress liver, cause pelvic congestion and hemorrhoids.
Ovulation causes change to progesterone cycle. Oxytocin triggers ovulation. Cotton root back can stimulate or improve effect of oxytocin - can help seal off capillaries. Shepherd's Purse also good to stop re-bleeding.
Pictures of cotton... reckon these folks never saw it before, but my grandparents grew cotton... so I've seen plenty! Not a fan of Peter, Paul and Mary either... You can buy heirloom cotton from Seed Saver's Exchange and Southern Exposure, btw. Long, long discussion on cotton. Pesticides, desertification.... you could skip this part if you grew up in cotton country and know the difference between real folk music and folk commercial 50s/60s "folkie" music. I got to hang out with Arlo Guthrie a bit, so I have a little fondness for his dad and Pete Seeger, Phil Ochs, Joan Baez and such.... but a lot of it was awful. Frank Proffit, Jr. was a good friend of mine and somewhat of a mentor. HIs dad recorded "Hang Down Your Head Tom Dooley", and his grandmother wrote it. That was real folk music. Elizabeth Cotten was real folk music. Mike Seeger played real folk music...his brother, Pete, had his own "folkie" thing going that was as much politics as music. I liked Bob Dylan a lot when I was a kid, still do.... but, I thought he was the best songwriter... then, I heard John Prine, Guy Clarke and Townes Van Zandt..... but wow, 15-20 minutes on organic cotton! Yep, lots of chemicals used in commercial production - mono-crop.
Cotton root also good for post birth tonic can aid in child birth.
He then wander off into some very confused thinking, apparently under the belief that eugenics and the genocidal extermination of large segments of the population was about forcing women to have children to increase population.... rather than the mass slaughter of people deemed unfit due to race.... which would be the opposite goal. Amazing how political ideology disrupts linear thought.
Then, back to oxytocin.
